I’m usually a red wine drinker, so when Anew Wines sent me a couple of bottles of their Riesling to review, I was skeptical. Would it be too sweet? Would my husband like it? How should I serve it?
That Sunday, it was warm enough to grill outside. I invited my father-in-law over for dinner, and served chilled Anew Riesling with our casual meal of pork burgers and potato chips. My father-in-law is also a red wine drinker, so I was wondering what he would think about the wine.
The wine tasted crisp and was refreshing; it wasn’t too sweet or too dry. My husband said it would be a nice wine to drink in the summertime; my father-in-law liked it as well and said he would drink it again. I can just imagine sitting on the patio sipping a glass of Anew Riesling this summer!
Tasting notes (From the Anew website):
Opening with aromas of bright fruit, subtle spice and citrus, Anew Riesling offers a harmonious blend of pure fruit flavor, heightened aromatics and balanced acidity. Expressive flavors of fresh peach and a hint of spice give this wine a crisp, refreshing essence. Visit Anew Riesling on Facebook.

We totally loved this wine, too and more red wine drinkers, but still we couldn’t get over how much we liked it, too π

I really love it and would recommend it to anyone! It’s a great wine!
I also prefer dry and red, but I do enjoy a good Riesling! Here’s something I learned in a wine class I took: if you are serving very spicy food, pair it up with Riesling and Shiraz. Recommend the Riesling to anyone who wants to tame the spice and the Shiraz to anyone who wants to intensify it.
I will look for the Anew label. It sounds lovely.

That’s great advice! I think I’ll have the Riesling, and my husband will have the Shiraz. He loves spicy!
I found Anew at our local grocery store, which is Jewel in Chicago. I think it should be pretty easy to find!

I love Riesling! I typically buy Relax Riesling because I usually like the German kind. I will have to try this!

It sounds lovely. I also like to drink red wine but in the summer I get a taste for White Zinfandel! Have a wonderful Easter……

I, too, am a red wine drinker. White are often too sweet and I can’t enjoy them as much as I do a good red. But after hearing what a fellow red has to say, I might just buy a bottle. Thanks for the review!
I agree with you, I’m not a fan of sweet wines! This was a nice change from the usual reds I drink, and I didn’t find it to be too sweet.
