It’s a Blog Party!

Ultimate Blog Party 2010

Did you get your invitation yet? YOU DIDN’T? Well, click on that button above, and join the party! We’re going to have so much fun! (Even if you don’t have a blog, there are some great giveaways at 5 Minutes for Mom for everyone!)

I started writing Lemon Drop Pie almost two years ago, and I really enjoy meeting new people online through my blog. Let me introduce myself!

I’m a former second grade teacher who is staying home with my two daughters: Lily is five and Emmy is two and a half. I love being a stay at home mom! However, I also love teaching, and when my daughters are a little older, I would love to get back into the classroom.

I love to sing, (especially with my sisters) and I always have a book on my nightstand. (Now that I’m a mom, it takes me a lot longer to finish a book than it used to!) My husband and I love to travel and spend time outside, and we’ve visited quite a few state and national parks.

In what seems like a lifetime ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was before I had children, before I met my husband, when I was a single teacher living on my own. I feel so blessed to have come so many years with my cancer in remission, to have found the love of my life, and to have two daughters of our own!

Breast cancer is no picnic, as you can imagine. My mom was also diagnosed with cancer at a young age. She was 40 at her first diagnosis, and she was the mother of four young children at the time. She was so proud to have survived cancer for 26 years! We lost my mom to breast cancer last November. She has inspired me in so many ways.

I would love to hear from YOU! We all have a story, and I’d love to hear yours! If you leave a comment on my blog, I will come and visit your blog in return!

(I would also like you to know that although my stories are true, I do not use my real name, my husband’s or my daughters’ real names.)

I’ve finally looked over the prize list, and here’s my wish list!

I would absolutely love winning the  Toshiba Laptop since my laptop is old and I share it with my husband! We’re worried that the hard drive is starting to fail. (Don’t worry, we have everything backed up!)

US8 Buds to Bloom Photo Tile Necklace, a beautiful prize provided by Lisa Laverty at Elemental Memories.

US34 Bliss Lemon and Sage Body Butter would be wonderful for my dried out winter skin…plus it matches my blog name perfectly! This gift is provided by Taiyon’s Image.

USC3 $50 Target Gift Card, because who doesn’t like shopping at Target? This great prize is provided by Peggy Gorman at PegsPlay.

I’d be happy with any of the other prizes as well, including US 36, US31, US32, US 37, US 52, US 55, US 74, US73, US87 and US88.

Thank you, 5 Minutes for Mom!

Looking forward to meeting you,
<>

  2. Nice to meet you (again) Ginny Marie. I love the name of your blog, because if you say it quick it sounds like the Dutch little 'drop' (liquorice). With a lemon flavour. Let's hope your lemons will remain more on the sweet than on the sour side!

  7. So glad to hop on in here for the blog party! My mom had breast cancer at 35, so she was young too. We lost her at 45 to a different type of cancer. I can so relate to the bittersweet memories. Your intro says you are a teacher and want to get back to teaching when your girls (adorable girls!) are older… have you considered home schooling them? 🙂 I'm sure I will see you around the UBP this week!

How hard what you went through… cancer is …. horrible…. My husband's mom passed away from breast cancer 4 yrs. ago…. so I've seen what it causes to a family (even when I met him after she was gone) …. There are some very inspiring stories of survivors… And yours is one that makes me respect you so much! God has truly blessed you with a beautiful family and love! All the things that cancer tried to steal from you!May God bless you with good health, happiness and love!Paloma.
