The Perfect Writing View

I sit at a desk in my hotel room looking out at Resurrection Bay, hearing the waves beat against the shore. It is almost midnight here and yet it is not quite dark outside. I still have a view of the mountains across the bay, even though clouds obscure them.

For the past week and a half, I have stared out windows of the places we have stayed. The most wonderful views meet my eyes; they are perfect windows to inspire writing–yet I have had not taken the time to write. Mostly because I am spending time with my family, but also because we have been going, going, going ever since our vacation began.

And while I have the perfect view for writing, as I look though the pictures I have taken, I realize I may not have the words to express the beauty, wildness, and yet familiarity of Alaska. I will try.

But now, the street light has turned on (finally, as it is 11:50 p.m.) and more adventures are awaiting tomorrow. The words will have to wait.

  1. I have always wanted to go to Alaska, which is weird because snow and cold aren't really my thing. It's just the beauty there that keeps calling me! I can't wait to see pictures! Enjoy your trip and safe travels!

    1. It definitely is beautiful! But it is not cold and snowy in the summer. 😀 We've had temperatures in the 60's and 70's, depending on the day. Up in the mountains it is very cold and snowy, but we haven't spend much time that high up!

  2. I have always wanted to visit Alaska, especially for the long days, but I've heard it can make some people batty. Enjoy your vacation!
