On a beautiful fall day in September, I was fortunate to be able to learn about dairy farming. Not only was I able to visit Lindale Holsteins to see the cows being milked, but I was also able to take a tour of the Dean’s processing plant in Huntley, Illinois. I learned a lot about milk!
Do you know how long it takes milk to travel from the cow to the store? The answer may surprise you. (I was surprised!)
Ok, I seriously didn’t know how long of a process it did indeed take. I had an idea, but you definitely educated me this morning. So thank you for that 😉

I have been learning way more than I ever thought I would through this farm program! It’s been very educational.

Wow! 48 hours! Talk about fresh.
I think pasteurizing is important. I know many people love raw milk but I don’t know much about it. We buy organic and hope for the best! So delicious.

I thought 48 hours was pretty fast! I’ve been researching raw milk, and I might write a post on it. I also know some people who drink it, but in my opinion it’s not worth the risk. Organic milk is good!
