When I was growing up, baking cookies was the first preparation we made for Christmas. We loved having a plate of Christmas cookies while we decorated our fresh Christmas tree, which we usually purchased only a few days before Christmas. My sister was the cookie baker in our house. She mastered ruby sparklers and candy cane cookies. During her visit over Thanksgiving, Lily paged through a Christmas cookie magazine I had bought and picked out several cookie recipes to make with her aunt.
While I mostly watched and took pictures, I was happy to taste the yummy results!
Not only is this great "family time", but these are the things holiday memories are made of!Looks yummy!!
Looks like fun, we are doing our Christmas baking next weekend and I'm looking forward to it!
My grandma was always the cookie baker in the family. I'm not a huge sweets person but I always miss those cookies this time of year and the time we spent making them. Great memories you are creating.
I can't make cookies to save my life. I tried one time and they ended up coming out horrid. I'm not sure I'll try it again anytime soon! 🙂
They sure do look yummy. I have to bake yet.
I love the idea of cookies on a tree – yum! 🙂
How awesome that they got to bake together. I can't wait to bake some cookies but not for a few more weeks.
Oh have fun…my son loves to make cookies…and that is on my list for next week…but trying to keep my weight down is also on my list…oh, my!!I will have to link up one day when I get my act together!!
There's nothing quite like turning on the oven and the smell of freshly baked cookies when the weather gets cold! We baked cookies yesterday too 🙂
My sister and I will be cooking Christmas dinner this year. I think we can squeeze in some cookie baking too.Loved the babyphotos in your last post!

What are those? They look like cake balls! I've been definitely baking! I've made Christmas Wreaths, Special K "pop in your mouth" chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, peanut butter blossoms and Mexican Wedding Cakes… 🙂 What precious memories baking with family! That picture is adorable!

I have made rolled out Christmas sugar cookies following my mom's special recipe (which was her mom's) every single year since I moved away from home. Your post brings forth so many happy memories of baking cookies while growing up. I just might have to write a post on it myself sometime very soon. But of course, that would mean I need to get crackin' pretty soon on the baking! Great photos as always!

I will be starting the Christmas cookie baking soon, but not a lot of it until close to Christmas. We bring a bunch to my Mom's Christmas Eve party so I do a whole bunch (I mean 2-3 days worth of baking) right before Christmas. I will probably do a batch or 2 of chocolate chips in a few days to hold us over tho lol 🙂
It looks like Lily was having a lot of fun with her Aunt, that makes for wonderful holiday memories!

We usually don't start baking until closer 'til to Christmas, too. I did just bake some for a cookie exchange, and put some in the freezer until Christmas. I hope they hold up!
