Sometimes We Like to Play Tourists

For the first time in a while, we had a whole Saturday free of commitments and obligations! Ed and I decided to take the girls downtown to the Field Museum. There is a traveling exhibit of China’s First Emperor and His Terracotta Warriors. Lily had seen the exhibit during a school field trip, and we wanted to see it before it leaves Chicago in January. Winter showed up today with snow flurries this morning, high winds and temperatures in the 30’s, so it was a good day to explore the museum!

Ed fits in well with the warriors, don't you think?

On the way home, we had to drive by Addison and Clark, even though not much is going on at Wrigley Field right now except for some construction.

Busy Day, Movie Night

Super busy day today; I was up by 6 and out of the house before 8! I had two Thanksgiving plays to attend; one as the teacher at preschool, the other as a parent at the elementary school. After the play, Ed and I went home and had lunch together, something which rarely happens! He went back to work, and I went to the gym to walk on the treadmill. Then the girls came home from school. They had an early dismissal because their Thanksgiving break started today. We have parent/teacher conferences with their teachers next week.

Just-Keep-Swimming

I thought it would be fun to watch a movie, so I tried to rent “Finding Dory” from Redbox. I searched online and finally found a DVD in a Des Plaines Redbox and reserved it. But when I got there, the box had an “error” and I didn’t get the DVD. That’s never happened before! I think the online inventory hadn’t caught up to real life inventory. So I drove to the Mount Prospect library and rented three movies, hoping that we could decide on one to watch tonight. I didn’t want to make our usual pizza for movie night, since we have eaten a lot of pizza in the past couple of weeks. I made tacos instead. (You can’t go wrong with tacos!)

So, which movie did we watch? An oldie but goodie: The Karate Kid!

What did you do on this Friday night?
