Birthday Cake!

Since we had been on vacation for a couple of weeks, and then I was in charge of Vacation Bible School at our church, Emmy’s birthday party was planned at the last minute.

Sunday morning I rushed around picking up things around the house and cleaned off the dining room table, where my VBS materials had exploded into a huge pile of papers. Ed was outside, cleaning off our patio furniture. Then Ed came inside to vacuum while I dusted, and he ran to the store. He came back with these plates:

He had already bought cake mix and frosting for me, but then I sent him running back to the store so I could make this cake:

Our guests arrived, and we had a wonderful celebration with BIG BUBBLES for my BIG GIRL!

I’ve Been Mostly in Michigan

The picture I posted last week was of Mackinac Bridge which crosses the Straits of Mackinac (pronounced “Mac-i-naw”). This is where Lake Michigan and Lake Huron meet. (Becky guessed South Florida, which was a great guess!)

The picture up above, however, shows the view from the cabin we stayed in for the first part of our vacation. We drove up to the Porcupine Mountains in the Upper Peninsula, and our cabin was right on Lake Superior.

I’m going to post little snippets of our vacation. My first guest has arrived for Emmy’s birthday party, so I’ll post this now and write more later. I’ve just been itching to blog, but haven’t had the time!

Happy Birthday, Emmy!!
