Making Calls

Today, I would like to made return visits to some people who visited Lemon Drop Pie over the weekend. As I was mentally adding this to my to-do list, I thought it sounded rather like I needed to make some calls. Not phone calling, but Jane Austin type calls. Victorian calls.

This could prove to be difficult, however, as Lily is running around in circles yelling, “I’m the gingerbread girl! You can’t catch me!” as Emmy is chasing wildly after her. So much for little children being seen and not heard.

Speaking of gingerbread, I would like to try to make some with the girls today. I’ve never made it before, and think store-bought gingerbread has the consistency of cardboard. I’m sure making some from scratch must be tastier, don’t you?

I also must finish some correspondence today as well. (a.k.a. the Christmas letter) By necessity, it happens to be washing day. I will have to remind the maid. (a.k.a. me!)

I’ll be sure to drop off my calling card in your parlor when I come calling. In the meantime, have a wonderful Monday!

It’s the Small Things: Daddy!

On Saturday mornings, we have a little routine. Daddy gets to sleep late while the girls watch TV until 7:30. (This is late when you have to get up at 5:15 every morning!) Both the girls are always thrilled when Daddy comes downstairs on Saturday mornings. Ordinarily they don’t see him in the morning since they are still asleep!

This morning, there was an article in the newspaper about a coyote. Ed read it to the girls. The coyote had been stranded on a floe of ice in Lake Michigan, and an animal rescue organization went out in a boat to rescue the coyote. The girls were fascinated with this story!

And time spent with Daddy was also right up their alley!
